I have a new Socket Jenie that can quickly raise the roof with a drill in about a minute. It has a machined end that fits the drill jaws and the other is the
same as the end of the crank. Custom Cylinders International, Inc. is looking for other campers that might use a different design. The LVSG-630 is a new design
that fits a 1972 Ramada.

These should work on all years of Apache hardsides. Do you have a link
to post Grover? Tom

Information on Socket Jenie to raise roof with a drill | ||
|
Tom---
Take a look at socketjenie.com for more information on the socket. It fits into any drill that has a 1/2" chuck. There are also sockets that fits other applications. This product was originally developed for Coachmen/Viking pop-up campers, but due to other requests has expanded to include other brands (i.e. the Apache). Grover |

Contact Custom Cylinders International, Inc. at their web site with your phone number, "E" mail address, how far it goes into the camper body (add 1
1/2" to that number), the diameter of the outside of the crank portion that goes into the camper body, the width of the slots (1 or 2) in the end, and a
picture would be very helpful. They will need to know the year and model of your unit.
If they do not have a size to fit your camper, they will make one to fit! Grover |

The only problem with this is that the Apache lift system is designed with stops at the end, they dont reach any further and blasting into them will cause
damage to the gear boxes and last links on the chains. I have seen the damage the human cranking factor causes for years on lift systems and can only imagine
what this can do in the blink of an eye! I guess if you have $700.00 and no strength to raise it by hand it should work great but be very careful not to blast
into the top, I would be very leary of even useing this with extreame caution.

A driver/drill with an adjustable clutch would go a long way towards reducing any risk.

Hi Timsch
they did great and liked the camper until they got home and tried to put it up with the hand crank. My son-in-law has more strenght then smarts and forced it up half way and twisted my crank in half. I live about a mile away so i towed it home 1/2 up and had to drop the gear boxes to get the top down, fine except for one corner that went down to about 1/2 in and is stuck there. I'm going to try to lift the top and fine out whats up. when I push down on the high side the low side does not move, which I read that if you push down on the high side and a chain is broke the low side should push up. Wish me luck cause I;ll probably need it. got to have it going by Sept 19 for a wedding in Clarkston. |

I figured that was the problem cause the son-in-law twisted the crank til he broke it right at the tip of the long end had one corner up about 1in highed then
the others.
